I’m Jamie Chapman and I’d love you to support me in the upcoming Southend City local elections.
A bit about myself
I’ve lived in Southend my whole life. I currently live in St Luke's with my wife, our two children and our two dogs. My first school was Greenways, then onto Bournes Green and finally finishing at Thorpe Bay.
I’ve had various jobs over the years from banking, care assistant, sales, cleaner to running my own Jewellery shop in London Road, I then settled on doing a part time degree over 5 years whilst working which got me a job in the tech industry where I currently work as a Software Engineering manager for Ericsson.
I’m passionate about our local area, especially when it comes to matters of rubbish, traffic and antisocial behaviour. I’ve campaigned to introduce speed bumps along Central avenue as I feel with schools at either end of the road we should have safe guards in place to reduce traffic speed, I have also been witness to a number of serious car accidents along Central avenue, I would campaign for better signage around speed limits and simple changes to the road layout at key junctions. Rubbish in general is high in the area, to tackle this I’d increase the collection of public bins as these are often overflowing.
I don’t think any of the above should be aspirational, I think they are the minimum we should all expect from our local area, it should be clean and safe and currently it just isn’t.
