Dear Thorpe Resident
I’m standing as the Confelicity candidate for Thorpe Ward because I believe local people should shape local decisions. Our council should act in the best interests of Southend residents—not simply follow policies handed down from central government.
I live and work in Southend as a secondary school teacher and have raised my two sons here. We’ve experienced everything the city has to offer—from schools, sports clubs and parks to the seafront and local businesses. I care deeply about this community because it’s my home. I’m not a career politician; I bring real-life experience and a practical understanding of the challenges residents face.
My priorities are focused on the issues that matter most locally. I will firmly oppose development on the Green Belt, particularly around Bournes Green. Once it is lost, it is gone forever. I want greater transparency in how the council spends money and to ask the difficult questions about where that money is going. I will push for improvements to basic services—better road maintenance, cleaner streets, and more effective waste management.
I also want to support local small businesses, work with the police and community groups to tackle anti-social behaviour and protect our coastline by improving water quality. Southend should be a city we are proud of—a place that attracts visitors and thrives, not one that is allowed to decline.
Over the past year I’ve been out in the community, attending local events, supporting environmental campaigns, and speaking to residents about their concerns. Those conversations have shaped what I stand for.
I am committed to representing you independently, without political deals or automatic alignment with larger parties. I will listen to you and make your concerns my priority on the council.
Southend has so much to offer. Together, we can make it an even better place to live, work, and visit.
