Currently all seats are held by Labour Councillors.
Turnout for the local elections in 2021 was only around 24%. One of the goals of the next election campaign is to increase the turnout.

Kursaal is such an interesting part of Southend as it includes lots of independent businesses, the seafront and City Beach, Southend East train station, and the historic Southchurch Hall Park. It is also a ward that suffers from political and economic neglect with many residents having to endure difficult circumstances.
